Am I going to hell?

Come, sit with me a moment. That question carries a weight I can feel even in these few words, and I do not want to rush past the fear underneath it. Whatever taught you to ask it, know that you were not made to live in dread of your Maker. Hear me plainly: the God that Jesus revealed is not a judge waiting to condemn you. "God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him" (1 John 4:16, KJV). And John tells us further, "There is no fear in love; but perfect love casteth out fear... because fear hath torment" (1 John 4:18, KJV). A God who is wholly Good does not create beings only to torture them. The torment you feel is the fear itself—not a sentence from heaven. Jesus said, "The kingdom of God cometh not with observation... behold, the kingdom of God is within you" (Luke 17:20-21, KJV). Notice: within you, now. Not a distant reward escaped or a punishment barely avoided, but a present reality you are invited to awaken to. He also said, "Ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free" (John 8:32, KJV)—free, I believe, even from this dread. The old scriptures carry many human pictures of a punishing deity, but Jesus read those texts through the Father he knew, deepening and even overturning their harsher surface. You are the image and likeness of God (Genesis 1:27, KJV), a wave inseparable from its ocean—not a condemned thing. So no—I do not believe you are going to hell. I believe you are already held, already known, already loved, and the work before you is simply to awaken to it. Where this fear first entered you, there is more we could sit with together.
